When young South Africans tackle issues endemic to our society and come up with brilliant, simple solutions – it reminds us how much we have to be grateful for. And this product is all about gratitude – cashless gratitude to be exact. Tip4Change is an innovative new platform that connects local service attendants and tippers, using simple technology that makes it easy to express or receive gratitude in the form of a cashless tip.

Working on the brand and communications strategy with the founders of this platform was one of the most interesting and thought-provoking creative challenges I’ve had the privilege of undertaking. It was crucial that the brand language was simple enough to ensure immediate comprehension but still weighty enough to convey the real impact of this platform. Similarly, the brand’s logo and supporting identity needed to be immediately recognisable and have a local visual flair while giving a sense of the digital nature of the platform. Branduo’s design partners at Franklin Cooper rose to the challenge, creating a logo inspired by the app’s QR code technology and an attention-grabbing colour palette that we can’t wait to see appearing at petrol stations and beyond around South Africa.
